The Camelid Sacrum was probably made from different carving tools. It is made from a fossil of a camelid. I assume these fossils were probably easier to find during that time period (14,000-7,000). This three dimensional sculpture is very engraved and was most likely very difficult to shape. It was definitely made by the hands of man. The holes cut into the bone to represent the nostrils were created by a sharp instrument. The sculpture overall was probably important to the artists' culture. The sacrum could have been seen as sacred. Sacrum is derived from Latin meaning "sacred bone."
Bushel with Ibex Motifs
The Bushel with Ibex Motifs was made from clay and then painted. One can assume it was very hard to make considering clay is hard to shape today even with the advanced tools that we have. This was made in Susa Iran. Susa has fertile soil in the river valley. This represents animals and agricculture which is shown on the beaker as geometric lines. I believe this is an abstract piece of art because it is representing something deeper. The Ibex was religious too being found on Necropolis, which is a place for the dead. The animal figures on the beaker represent rhythm and movement.
Jade Cong
The Jade Cong was made from a bi and a cong. The main types of cong have a square outer section arround a circular inner part, and a circular hole. The Jade Cong looks like a disc. The main decoration on the Jade Cong is the face pattern which is placed across the corners. These faces are derived from a combination of a man-like figure and a mysterious beast. The function of this art to me is unknown but I believe it is probably very important to the Chinese culture.
